Find your strength

Psychotherapy for adults, adolescents and couples

If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or a significant life change, psychotherapy can provide powerful support and guidance to help you regain the feeling of control and strength.

Psychotherapy at Foundations Mental Health is a collaborative process where we work together, using evidence based techniques like Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a safe and confidential space.

By gaining insight into the underlying causes of your challenges, you can develop healthy, strengths-based coping mechanisms and create positive change in your life.

Individual psychotherapy is offered both in-person to clients in downtown Toronto and online to clients anywhere in Ontario.

Relationships can be wonderful, but they can also come with their share of challenges. If you and your partner are having a hard time communicating or are feeling distanced from each other, couples therapy can be a transformative step towards reconnecting.

As a Gottman Method-trained counsellor, I offer a safe, judgment-free and supportive environment for you and your partner to explore your emotions, improve your communication, and deepen your connection. I help to guide clients through difficult times, helping both to understand each other's perspectives and find healthy and productive ways to resolve conflicts.

Couples counselling is offered both in-person to clients in downtown Toronto and online to clients anywhere in Ontario.

EMDR, or Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a therapy that encourages clients to focus briefly on trauma memories while also experiencing bilateral stimulation (usually eye movements). EMDR is an extensively researched therapy and can be integrated with other therapy approaches such as CBT.

As an EMDR-trained therapist, I provide a safe space to help clients suffering from trauma and PTSD, as well as anxiety, depression and other distressing life experiences.

Hi, I’m Martha.

We’ve all experienced obstacles that can hold us back from being who we want to be and living how we want to live.

Some obstacles such as stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal conflict, or challenges within an intimate relationship, can overwhelm us and act as barriers to personal fulfilment.

I work with individual and couple clients to help them move through their barriers. I have a broad base of training and use evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, (CBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and the Gottman Method. Within a safe and supportive environment, I develop therapy tools unique to each client’s situation and help them identify unhelpful patterns, manage distress, reconnect with inner strengths, and find paths towards greater contentment.

As a Toronto-based Registered Psychotherapist, I offer in-person and online therapy to individual adults and adolescents and provide counselling to couples seeking to improve their understanding of, and compassion for, each other.

I am a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and hold a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology.

Let’s see if we’d be a good fit
